I wanted to just do a quick post on social media overload, or I guess I should more accurately say social media “interference”.
If your are in any type of business online or off, or let’s face it most likely just breathing on this planet, you have interactions all over the place with social media. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google Plus, and the list goes on… not to mention the chat apps like Periscope, Skype, and more. We use these platforms to build our business, to socialize, to interact, build our brand, etc…
But if we aren’t careful you can let become INTERFERENCE rather than ways to help you reach your success and goals. You go online to make a quick post about your venture, you post a quick photo on pinterest, and before you realize it hours have gone by as you’ve read up on what your friends were doing, the neighbors, new crafts on pinterest, new motivational quotes, reading news headlines that popped up in your feed, checked out the best way to get odors out of towels, the next sale at your favorite shopping site (you do notice how the ads on your social media sites these days cater to where you’ve been, shopped, what you’ve searched for), and you’ve even watched a really cute cat video… I know I’ve been there and this is definitely counter productive to building your business online.
So if your building our business online, keep this in the back of your mind the next time you head on over to Facebook to post your quote for the day or to see your companies update, and set a time limit of say 20 minutes to half an hour to get done what you need done on all platforms and get back to the work!
Have a super great week.
